Nissan Breathes New Life to Heritage Models
NISMO, Nissan’s performance and motorsports division has announced that they’re rolling out replacement parts for some “heritage models.” This comes as great news to owners in Japan (and those lucky enough to have sources from there).
Under the Nissan Heritage program, sales of these replacement parts start on December 1 and will start initially with the R32 Skyline GT-R, a model produced by Nissan from 1989 to 1995.
Citing NISMO’s close relationship with Nissan Skyline GT-R owners, NISMO has decided on the R32 as its pilot model. NISMO will be selling about 80 replacement parts including harnesses, hoses (tubes), emblems, and even exterior components. There’s also consideration to expand their range of R32 parts as well as broadening the heritage program scope to include the R33 and R34 models as well.
When certain parts cannot be reproduced, NISMO will consider methods of replacing these parts using substitute, rebuilt, or overhauled products as well as NISMO-tuned parts.
Nissan is the second Japanese carmaker to announce a re-supply of parts for their classic / heritage models. The first one was Mazda which announced a similar program for its first-generation MX-5.
