PNP Takes Delivery of 40 Mitsubishi Montero Sport Patrol Vehicles
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) announced that 40 brand-new Mitsubishi Montero Sport vehicles have been delivered from Japanese Government to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The vehicles are being supplied through an agreement between the Japan International Cooperation System (JICS) and Sojitz Corporation.
The project is part of Japan’s Grant Aid for the Philippines’ Economic and Social Development Programme which aims to contribute to safety and socioeconomic development, through the provision of local and public counter terrorism and safety-related equipment in the country.
The announcement took place during a ceremony at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Headquarters in Camp Crame, attended by the Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines, Koji Haneda, and Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police Director General, Ronald Dela Rosa.
Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) President and CEO, said:
“As one of the leading car manufacturers in the country, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation is committed to contributing to the Philippines’ socioeconomic development at the same time as promoting public safety.”
“We are delighted that our Mitsubishi Montero Sport has been chosen for this important project. We are confident that it will deliver superior driving performance, safety and durability to match the demands of Philippines law enforcement.”
Under Japan’s grant aid program, a total of 87 brand new Mitsubishi Montero Sport vehicles are to be distributed to various units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) nationwide.
These 40 Mitsubishi Montero Sport vehicles are the first batch of cars to be given to Philippine National Police (PNP). The remaining 47 vehicles are set to be delivered by the end of December 2017.
The first batch of cars were used as patrol vehicles during the ASEAN Summit on November 10-14, 2017, providing security to the top-level ASEAN dignitaries and their delegations.
