Nissan Philippines Increases Vehicle Prices Due to Excise Tax
Nissan Philippines joins the growing list of car companies that have formally announced their new SRP (Suggested Retail Price) taking into account the revised new vehicle excise tax. And like other carmakers, the passage of TRAIN means an increase throughout the line-up, including (surprisingly) the Navara pickup truck.
One of the best-selling pickup trucks in the country, the Navara sees a modest P 20,000 to P 30,000 increase equating to a 2-3 percent increase in price on all variants.
Nissan Philippines has clarified that the increase isn’t due to TRAIN (pickup trucks are actually exempted, so they’re expected to go down), but because of unfavorable foreign exchange during the last few months of December. Nissan says that these units are 2017 models. Having said that, they are offering special promotions and discounts at the dealer level which sees savings of anywhere between P 50,000 to P 120,000.
Another model that hasn’t moved for January is the GT-R sports car. With no shipment that arrived in January, the pricing is retained at P 7,350,000. Like the Navara, Nissan Philippines will announce its price post-TRAIN when shipments come in (this is expected around mid- to late-February). At P 13,200,000, the Nissan GT-R NISMO already takes into account the excise tax.
Meanwhile, another one of Nissan’s best-sellers, the NV350 gets slapped with an even bigger increase. Prices have gone up anywhere between P 96,000 to P 137,000 resulting in a 5.5 to 11 percent increase in SRP. The recently launched Urvan Premium for example has gone up P 96,000 to P 1,836,000 (from P 1,740,000).
The only Nissan model that has gone down in price is the Patrol Royale. Despite seeing better equipment and an improved drivetrain in 2018, its price has gone down by P 240,100 to P 3,749,900. This makes it almost a million pesos more affordable than its direct competitor, the Toyota Land Cruiser LC200.
Comparing this to our predictions last December, we were just off by 0.96 percent with the Nissan Urvan Premium. With the GT-R still locked in at 2017 prices, we have yet to see if it will indeed increase when the 2018 shipments arrive.
How come toyota and ford were able to lower their prices?
ReplyDeleteYup, siyempre plusot lang yan hehe ;)
ReplyDeleteNissan will be adjusting Navara prices come February. That's according to some reports.
DeleteGuess this makes the Almera the cheapest 1.5L with a manual transmission. The look leaves a lot to be desired though.
