Largest Ford Ad in the World is Also Largest Eyesore
If you think you’ve seen gigantic billboards along EDSA or C5, think again. Ford shattered the record for the biggest eyesore on the planet by installing the largest billboard in the world to sell their smallest crossover.
The monstrosity which is located in Madrid, Spain measures 5,265 square-meters is now the Guinness World Records holder for the Largest Billboard in the World. Equivalent to 20 tennis courts, it shows the new Ford EcoSport covering the iconic Espana Building. The 2,000-kilogram installation exceeds the previous record in Dharan, Saudi Arabia by 241.93 square-meters.
While Ford says that going for the Guinness World Records title shows their company’s creativity, it also adds unnecessary visual pollution to a city like Madrid.
Thankfully though, the billboard will only be in place by the end of the month and that the materials used will be donated to the Apascovi Foundation Employment Center for people with disabilities so that it can be given “second life.”
