MIAS 2018: Suzuki Philippines Previews All-New Dzire Sub-compact Sedan
MIAS newcomer Suzuki Philippines previewed the all-new 2018 Dzire sub-compact sedan at the show, bolstering the Japanese automaker’s highly competitive line-up that includes the Ertiga, Vitara, and Ciaz.
Set for a debut later in the year, the al-new Dzire drops the “Swift” moniker and becomes a full-fledged model in its own right. Designed to fit in-between the A- and B-segment sedans, the Dzire is underpinned by Suzuki’s new HEARTECT platform. Stiffer and lighter than the previous platform, the Dzire is expected to deliver best-in-class driving dynamics and handling.
Under the hood resides a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder engine making 82 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. This carryover engine is mated to a 5-speed automated manual gearbox which Suzuki calls Auto Gear Shift technology. Essentially a manual transition with an electronically-controlled clutch, it’s said to combine the benefits of a manual transmission (better fuel economy and response) with that of an automatic (less tiring to drive). A 5-speed manual remains on the table for those wanting a three-pedal set-up.
According to Suzuki Philippines, the unit displayed at MIAS isn’t reflective of the final showroom model yet, so specifications can still change. It’s worth noting though Suzuki is aiming to equip the Dzire with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth hands-free and GPS navigation, a push-button engine start/stop, dual SRS airbags, and anti-lock brakes.
Suzuki Philippines is aiming to price the all-new Dzire somewhere in the range of P 700,000.

Looks just as ugly as the previous one
ReplyDeleteThe front looks somewhat like the Mirage and the body style is reminiscent of the Mazda 2.
ReplyDeleteSuzuki came up and started with a very nice looking subcompact with their 1st Gen Swift, but the succeeding gens were all failed.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the designer took a step back to look at the horrid job he's done.
