This is the All-New, 2nd Generation Honda Amaze
There’s no love lost for diesel at Honda. Just as the rest of the world is turning away from using diesel in their cars, Honda is diving straight into the deep in, particularly in developing markets such as India. This time, it’s with the all-new, second-generation Amaze sedan.
Dropping the “Brio” name, the Amaze becomes its own full-fledged line starting with this all-new second-generation model. Like its predecessor, the 2018 Amaze will still be made available in both diesel and gasoline flavors in India. However, this time, the highlight is that the diesel engine can be paired with a CVT automatic transmission.
Honda is particularly proud of this accomplishment and promises that more markets will soon experience the diesel/CVT pairing (cross your fingers for a diesel CVT Mobilio or BR-V for the Philippine market).
Although Honda is yet to release official power figures for the 2018 Amaze, expect it to at least maintain the current 1.5-liter i-DTEC’s 100-horsepower, 200 Nm of torque figure.
In terms of styling, the Amaze aligns itself with Honda’s global passenger car look with the upright solid-wing grille, trapezoidal headlights, and C-shaped rear lights. Inside, the all-new Amaze features a brand-new dashboard design with the touchscreen infotainment screen taking centerstage. The design has also allowed Honda to free up additional legroom.
The 2018 Honda Amaze was launched globally at the Auto Expo 2018 in India last February with a formal launch (and retail sales) slated for May in that market. No word yet whether the second-generation Amaze will be made available for the Philippine market.
Ha! Honda is following Mazda's path. What does the fanbois say now? The civic, the mobilio, and now the brio. If I were a Civic owner, it would be shameful to see a mom car and an eco car to have the same grill as mine.
ReplyDeleteMalamang 1m yung brio ma diesel sa pinas. On the other hand its amazingly ugly
ReplyDeleteSagwa kasi ng grille ng honda laging meron nun chrome na malapad na background ng logo nila. Hirap na hirap silang pagandahin ang façia ng mga auto nila. Trying hard ang dating
ReplyDelete1M peso cars belongs to the economy class now. And tbh bakit mo hahanapan pa ng magandang fascia ang mga economy cars. If you want something decent nowadays u need to step up to 2M-3M. In fact sa sub 2M ang papangit rin ng fascia to include mazda 3, so recycled and overused, even the civic toyota 86/brz ang papangit ng fascia so dull and boring.
DeleteAt 1M = wag ka na magexpect ng anything glorious. Theyre lowest in class. Theyre meant for fuel economy, taxi purposes, for practicality, for people who doesnt care about the looks.
At 1.5M it starts to get a little bit better.
2M bracket dito mejo madami ka na pagpipilian.
>2.5M this is where its at. Dito magiistart ang magagandang fascia na hinahanap mo. Ung tipong hnd na ricey.
Of all the cars in the 1m-2m range, you picknit on a mazda 3. A Mazda 3 2.0 Speed variant in its full soul red crystal will blow you away. It's called a corporate design language, even cars in the 4m-8m price range such as Audis, BMW's,etc have sa the same grille that you call disgusting due to being overused.
DeleteHe was triggering mazda fanboys guess he caught you hahaha
DeleteBMW, Lexus, Audi and other premium brands can get away with the corporate styling because they're rare, they have the prestige, and people have common knowledge that these cars are expensive and somewhat exotic. Mazda on the other hand is a mass market brand. They sell econo shitboxes like the rest of mass market companies, that's why they can't get away with overusing their corprate look. They are not a luxury brand kaya wag mag-feeling.
DeleteThat's not a valid reason. Really? They can "get away" just because of the prestige? Um nope, when a friend asked how much is my Mazda 3, he was shocked to know that it was just around 1.3m, he thought that it is around 2m due to its looks and presentation inside and out. It's not a cheap vios or a city you know. How can you say that a CX-5 or a Mazda 6 is a shitbox? Have you ever inspected an Audi or a Maserati? In some areas, there are cheap materials in those luxury brands and on the base models, a Mazda CX5 AWD Sport for example surpasses an Porsche Macan in terms of equipment. The supposedly "premium" Macan isn't even equipped with LED headlights, LED foglights, HUD, Sunroof, etc. Things that the Mazda offers at less than half the cost. It's a mockery to the so called "premium" moniker.
DeleteFrom your usage of words, it seems that you can't even afford a car above 1m or any car at all. Have you experienced owning a Mazda or an Audi? If not, keep your ignorant mouth shut. It seems that you are one of those ignorant people who are awed by the badge and do not look at a car's real worth, same with the people who buy iphones due to the brand but can't really afford it.
The so called mass market car brands are getting better year by year and are slowly catching up to these overpriced luxury cars.
Actually, Mazda has mentioned countless of times that they're not anymore going to be engaged in the rat race for market share anymore.
DeleteThey want to be a premium-mainstream brand and design plays a part in this. The fact that majority of their sales are driven by mid to high-end trims says something about this.
The family look that you seem to have a distaste over is something we see in all carmakers, only the level of integration varies.
For example...have you noticed that Toyota is now unifying their look for the entire SUV and passenger car line? Corolla, Camry, Avalon--they're starting to use a strong corporate design language while the 4Runner, RAV4, etc. does the same. Ditto with Honda, Subaru, etc.
The advantage (or perhaps disadvantage as you put it) with Mazda is that their line-up is fairly limited. It makes it easier for them to unify their designs quicker compared to other brands like Honda and Toyota which would have products designed specifically for one region such as the BR-V or WR-V. Same with Innova, Rush, etc.
Bottom line though is that they're doing the same thing as well.
Honda's really going head to head with the Dzire here, even dropping the other name Brio (to Dzire's Swift) as well.
DeleteThe engine though - isn't it the 1.2 i-DTEC?
It should be good if they can bring this diesel in as the Indians and Koreans have the mass-market disel car segment to themselves.
1.2 gasoline and 1.5 diesel. That's the initial indications for now. All the details will be revealed next month.

DeleteI can only theorize that your friend either:
1. Is dumb as a rock and does not know jack s*** about cars.
2. He mistook your mazda 3 as a mazda 6 since they basically look the same.
3. He said that your car looked expensive so you would stop pestering him with your beloved mazda 3, and he can finally go on about with his day.
Oh my God! this cracked me up ahahaha
DeleteLMAO! Time and again, this proves Mazda fanboys as Obnoxious ones.
DeleteOriginality ng honda yan. Naglitawan nanaman mga magagaling na bugok. Bakit mas matalino kpa sa engineer na nag design?
DeleteWell maybe they will introduce a diesel type in honda city soon since they alredy started with their smallest car in their sedan segment.
ReplyDeleteGrabe kapangit nitong honda na to parang nabanga yung front nya. Mag vios na lang ako kung ganito man lang
ReplyDeletePros: Diesel engine - this will surely be fuel efficient enough and pocket friendly. This is a Honda, so maintenance won't be an issue. High resale value if you want to sell after quite sometime.
ReplyDeleteCons: Ugly design.
* We have yet to see the actual interior design, the SRP, engine output and the features to place judgement.
If this is a diesel, the price will be high or equipment will be strip due to the engine's higher cost.
Delete5 Speed Automatic for Amaze Diesel
ReplyDelete6 Speed Manual or Automatic for BRV Diesel
6 Speed Automatic for Mobilio.
Man this is ugly compared to mazda designs
ReplyDeleteThere are no ugly Mazda designs, it's not limited to the brand the so called Mazda fanboys patronized, I'll get the Diesel crv if I have the money but I'm happy with my 4 years old cx5.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the designed is taken from https://www.daihatsu.com/products/vehicle_gallery/malaysia.html
ReplyDeleteYep that's what it looks like to me - a Daihatsu Bezza
