This May Be the Last-Generation Chevrolet Spark
Chevrolet just pulled the wraps off a restyled Spark for 2019, but even this refresh will probably not be enough to save it. This is according to a report by Reuters via Automotive News.
With sales slumping 36 percent last year in the US, this may well be the very last generation of the Spark sub-compact hatchback. General Motors’ South Korean unit, where the Spark is currently assembled, said that it may instead replace it with a small SUV sometime in 2022.
GM’s sale of its European brand, Opel to the PSA Group also contributed to the Spark’s demise since the Spark is sold there as the Opel Karl.
For 2019, the Spark features a re-designed face for a stronger family resemblance to the rest of the Chevrolet car line-up. It has a stronger face and new dual-element taillamps.
Power still comes from a 1.4-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine mated to a manual gearbox or CVT.
It also has upgraded safety equipment such as 10 airbags, a rear parking camera, and even low-speed forward automatic braking.

I heard the replacement is called Sparkle. That's the thing about American brands they are quick to chop off under-performing cars. It's their planning and execution that's the culprit. The cars have nothing to with it in the first place. The car owner sadly is the one holding the orphaned car.
ReplyDeleteNot even the autobots could save it.
ReplyDeleteFar too many better alternatives, in this country at least.
