Hyundai Kona Among 2018's 10 Best Interior Winners

Chosen from a field of 40 all-new or significantly improved interiors, Wards Auto, a US-based organization that’s been covering the automotive industry for over 80 years has revealed the 2018’s 10 Best Interiors.

With no price cap rule, these 10 vehicles bested all others based on the following criteria: aesthetics, comfort, ergonomics, materials usage, fit and finish, and user-friendliness.
  • Chevrolet Equinox Premier 2.0T
  • Hyundai Kona Ultimate AWD
  • Infiniti QX50 Essential AWD
  • Kia Stinger GT1 AWD
  • Lexus LS 500 AWD
  • Lincoln Navigator 4x4 Black Label
  • Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid
  • RAM 1500 Limited Crew Cab 4x4
  • Range Rover Velar First Edition
  • Toyota Camry XSE V6
Wards Auto has also revealed some interesting insights as to how carmakers are designing their car’s interiors. For instance, they’ve seen a rise in the use of red, not just as an accent color but covering large expanses of interior such as seats and door panels. In fact, 6 of the 10 winners all had red interiors.

In addition, carmakers are now “treating passenger compartments more like dazzling concepts than mainstream production cars and trucks”, Wards reports. Some of the nominees had all-digital instrument clusters, clever storage spaces including one that can both measure and preserve caught fish.

A big highlight among the winners (literally) is the Hyundai Kona which Wards praised for using color to give it a “hipster’s playground” vibe. Aside from the neon lime treatment, Hyundai’s small SUV got praises for its high-definition heads-up display and simplified center stack design.

    1. "Chosen from a field of 40 all-new or significantly improved interiors" -- Mazda didn't launch or refresh anything significantly.

    3. These Honda fanboys are really pathetic. It doesn't hurt to do some research. The Honda Accord and Odyssey were among the nominees yet neither made it to the top 10.

    4. Amazing how you guys labeled him as a Honda fanboy without basis. However he did trigger both of you as Mazda fanboys after spewing hatred. Just saying.

    5. It really is amazing considering this site is littered with rabid Honda fanboys posting about how great their car is on topics not even related to Honda.

On the contrary, its the Mazda fanboys who are always present in almost every article. Kahit check mo pa, nagkalat sila.

    7. Doesn't look that way to me. This is coming from someone who's neither a Honda nor a Mazda fanboy.

    12. Kakaawa yung mga mazda fanboys, biglang tumahimik, wala ng maisagot. Lakas ng loob ipasa yung kabulastugan nila sa honda fanboys.

  2. Sad to say, it'll be overpriced and underspec'd once it arrives here in the PHI.

I take my hats off to the remaining carmakers who gives us Filipinos what we rightfully deserve, since we pay for it with our hard earned money.

    1. Kona is 1.1m with a 2.0 engine seems a pretty good deal. other competing subcompact suv costs 1.3-1.4m.

    2. This is probably just the FWD variant. I hear other trims could go up to 1.6M.

    3. Yes, it may cost 1.1m but the question is, how's the equipment level in the package.

It's devoid of essential features, basically can be called as bare unit or almost bare unit sir, similar to majority of PHDM Hyundai vehicles.

    4. I think carguide published the official specs in this website https://www.carguide.ph/2018/04/mias-2018-hyundai-brings-out-kona.html. Its pretty decent for a 1.1M suv with 17 inch rims, abs, dual airbags etc.
