  1. Is the indicated price includes the discount already? Or not yet?

Yes, still very happy with the purchase. Just thought I could have gotten an even better deal had this promo come up when I bought mine.

Don't get me wrong. My mind was already set on buying the XV. This is just a better deal for me.

  3. Subaru is for niche market. Only fanboys of Subaru would buy one. It's expensive to own and maintain. If you have money to burn then buy a Subaru. That's the reason the brand would resort to this kind of huge discounts. Too many unsold inventory.

    1. Just because one buys a Subaru, he's already a fanboy. Some people buy these cause they see the value of owning a Subaru. In the end it's their money so who are you to judge.

    2. Correct. There's little time when you'll think you made a mistake in buying a Subaru, because there are good reasons why one would buy one. Nobody is limited to a common car brand.

    3. honda is still better.

    1. The perceived value that owners would like to justify their rides would be the safety and crash rating, AWD, and the heritage behind it. Wouldn't get a Subaru without a turbo. If you mind where your money goes or are a bit practical, you wouldn't plop down cash on one.

What someone mentioned above is true, Subaru is mostly for the niche group of people who don't mind spending extra for their transportation needs. The AWD is really nice to have, but 90% of the time you won't have any use of it. It will only add up as an additional expense. Sunroofs? Also nice to have. Even if you have it tinted with the most expensive tint you could find, I doubt you'd be pulling out the shade during these days. Crash ratings? Lots of other Japanese brands meeting the crash standards set by ANCAP and/or NCAP. Boxer engine? Wouldn't say finicky, but I'd argue other Japanese engines are much more bullet proof.

    2. Subaru has this kind of a premium image. Not Lexus level but you know what I'm saying. Wala silang 1M below na sasakyan eh. I think some people who bought a Subaru are people who want a somewhat premium Japanese car but can't afford Lexus so they settle for the cheaper alternative. Meaning image conscious but can't afford to buy the real deal kumbaga.

    3. Choice depends on the people. Just saying, but there's a reason why the Forester was voted by Consumer Reports as the number one Compact SUV. It's not about being the most (Yes, Mazda ricers, best to drive ang CX-5. We get it). It's getting the balance right.

Seriously, the reason why safety features aren't flying off the shelves here (things people in developed world are willing to pay extra for) is because of the amount of undisciplined drivers here.

    4. Who the f*** cares about safety in the Philippines? If given the choice, most would get a cheaper car without airbags than a slightly expensive one but with more safety features.

    5. Most people would buy an SUV due to the perception of safety and survivability of their loved ones during a crash. If they are not economically restricted they would not skip on airbags and other safety features. You can see more and more Subarus being used to ferry kids to school at least here in MM.

    6. I don't really get why some people have this need to put down other people's choices just because it's not their preferred brand. If a Subaru checks the things one wants in a vehicle, so be it. Just because you can cheap out on safety features doesn't mean others have to.

    7. At the end of the day, it's all about what you can afford. Subarus are intended to be interesting cars that contain plenty of features that people might actually need. Sure AWD is not necessary for a daily city drive or having a full suite of airbags even, but you'll be damn sure you would've opted for it once a potential accident happens. Car crashes ain't fun, and getting out of one can be more expensive than buying some "unnecessary" safety features.

    8. Please get your facts straight. AWD is not a safety feature. Subaru's safety feature would be the rigidity of the chassis and the availability of airbags. Its a performance feature which lets you have better control on slippery conditions. And I've never seen anyone out of their mind to run over the prescribed limit during rainy days. AWD just bogs down the performance of the car with the added weight, hence its only acceptable with the turbocharged Subarus.

    9. Learn to read. Nobody's saying AWD is a safety feature.

    10. Might want to do that for yourself. You might want to read the whole paragraph again.

  5. Hi Uly, hi everyone! What's your opinion regarding which crossover is the most practical to use and also to maintain? Subaru Forester, Kia Sportage CRDI, Hyundai Tucson, Honda CRV diesel? Thank you.

    1. Practical as in malaki, reasonably fuel-efficient and easy to maintain na reliable?

Yung hindi mo sinabi: Toyota Rav4.

    2. Rav4 is not fuel efficient but its easy to maintain. It has no fancy direct injection, meaning no carbon build up issues. No turbo either. Less worries.

Yes, space sa loob as baby is coming in 7 months. Hindi na pwede swift. :) Also which is fuel efficient and the parts availability. I have a friend who has Rav4, malakas sa gas. I'm eyeing the forester or the sportage, medyo napapaisip ako sa parts ng kia at yung mga casa nila parang onti na lang. CRV napapaisip den ako kasi bago pa sila mag diesel dito.

Yun den iniisip ko yung turbo. Timer needed.hehe! Pwede den timer yung paghintay ko pag ayos ng buhok at bag ng wife ko.hehe! I'm not sure about the fuel efficiency of the kia and hyundai gas engines.

    5. Just buy a subaru XV. It will fit most of the needs of an average sized family.

      Delete
    6. Depends on your needs. One baby's stuff may fit on the XV, but if you need to haul some other things, might want to go get a bigger car.

    7. @Anon 12:58pm
Yes Sir I was also thinking about the other staff as the wife brings a lot of staff, kulang na lang cabinet. Hehehe! I checked the XV also but ended narrowing it to the four vehicles. Medyo napapaisip lang ako sa korean cars. Wala pa kasi ako experience doon.

  6. So many hurt, defensive responses from Subaru owners. But nobody touched on the issue of Subaru's habit of burning Subaru owners by suddenly offering huge discounts. Anon 9:24 is right the only reason Subaru resorts to that should be lots of unsold inventory. There's no other reason otherwise Subaru wouldn't risk the ire of it's customers and even affecting its resale value.

    1. May nag-post naman ah (Read the post on May 2, 2018 at 9:29 AM) yet he/she's still happy with the purchase despite MI offering discounted prices for this month.

    2. Yeah, but he would've been happier if he didn't lose 80 -100k.. Damned, that's a lot.

      Delete
    3. No need to rub it in. If you've been to a Subaru dealership, they were already offering 40K to 60K discounts on the XV, and 150K discount on a base trim of the Forester even before this promo.

      Delete
    4. There's always a thing called timing when buying a car. Grabbing the discount now only to find out a bigger discount comes the next time is common for dealerships. There's no harm in waiting a few months or so to check out the buying perspectives. They give discounts because of overstocking cars or because of upcoming models (such as the 2019 Forester), so might as well embrace a discount instead of paying the full price. In this case you win some you lose some, but you still got a Subaru for less.

  7. So much praises for Subaru, until you get to talk with the owners dealing with its 'quirky' characteristics. Its really not for everyone who don't have time or money to spare. But of course, its one very good driving machine.
