Toyota Will Soon Make AT Gearboxes in Santa Rosa, Laguna
Toyota Motor Corporation has announced that they are investing approximately P 1.2 billion in order to set-up an automatic transmission production line at its Santa Rosa, Laguna-based Toyota Autoparts Philippines (TAP) plant.
TAP has been producing high-quality manual transmission gearboxes and constant-velocity joints for 26 years. More recently, TAP has begun producing the new 6-speed manual gearboxes contributing to investment and employment opportunities in the country.
Aside from this announcement, Aisin and Toyota have agreed to increase the former’s equity participation in Toyota Autoparts Philippines from the current 34 percent to 61 percent. This makes Toyota Autoparts Philippines an Aisin subsidiary with Aisin now leading the newly formed company’s business operations. This also includes a name change to Toyota Aisin Philippines, Inc.
In November 2014, Toyota and Aisin agreed to strengthen their competitiveness by consolidating the MT functions of Aisin AI, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aisin, and those of Toyota, allowing more efficient allocation of resources. Research & Development and production of MTs for mass-produced vehicles in Japan were consolidated and transferred to Aisin AI before January 2017. In January 2016, Aisin made a partial equity investment in TAP as part of its overseas MT business and has since participated in the management of its business operations.
Following the organizational change, TAP seeks to achieve even more efficient production, as a subsidiary of Aisin, leveraging its expertise and knowledge, which has world-leading technological capabilities and a diverse lineup of transmissions.
You mean the prehistoric 4AT?
ReplyDeleteThey haven't said, but for the MT, they're currently making the MT for FR applications. Likely, it will be the CVT for the Vios or the AT for the Innova.
Deleteregardless if it is prehistoric 4at or cvt, the important thing is this will create jobs to our growing human resource...BOOM
