Man, someone better keep a tighter lid of things over at Suzuki. After countless spy shots, the Japanese carmaker had to release official photos a full 2 weeks before its July 5 global debut.
Although Suzuki’s new micro SUV is being sold in its home market as the Jimny and the Sierra, the Sierra looks to be the more likely candidate for export markets given that the narrow body Jimny has been specifically designed to fit into Japan’s kei car standards. As such, we’ll be concentrating on the Jimny Sierra at this point (UPDATE: Suzuki has confirmed that the Jimny Sierra will be the global overseas market model):

Although Suzuki Philippines remains mum on when the Jimny will make its local market debut, it’s understood that dealers have actually run out stocks already. And given that the Jimny’s sourced from Japan (made at their Kosai Plant for the first time), Suzuki Philippines may get their hands on this cutesy off-roader sooner rather than later.
As previously mentioned, our panel interview with Suzuki Philippines personnel revealed that the Dzire and Swift are just two of the various products they’re launching this year. In fact, with such a strong curiosity for the Jimny and all-new Ertiga, this could all point to a launch date or at least preview before the end of the year.

DeleteOff-roading (4x4) is best experienced in a manual tranny IMO. So if 4AT bothers you, get a MT, otherwise, forget this baby and look somewhere else... ;)

ReplyDeleteMost off-roaders strip the thing to the bare minimum. With that engine, what do you need a five door for? Are you planning on off-roading with your family? Get a 4x4 SUV.

at David. . .yes, i've also noticed it. but in my own opinion suzuki did it because the vehicle is design for off-roading thats why they are after of the torque not the speed. gear ratio below 1 is classified as overdrive and design only for vehicles where speed is highly considered.

ReplyDeleteLooking forward on seeing this car in the showrooms soon! I do wish they have an armrest for those times you’re stuck on traffic. Obviously space is an issue, so maybe they can make a folding driver’s armrest as an optional accessory.����

This is going to be a winner , the previous version although good missed the point with fuel consumption and power, fine for smaller countries where you do not travel that far , but in SA we go distances with a load ... this will touch a sweet spot ... never thought I would buy one... but her goes.
