Lexus Philippines officially launched the seventh-generation 2019 Lexus ES luxury sedan bringing with it a redefinition of comfort, refinement, and luxury in its class. Built atop a brand-new chassis, the Lexus ES allows for a more dynamic exterior design coupled with sharper performance and a level of craftsmanship rarely found in this segment.

Underpinned by the all-new Global Architecture-K (GA-K) platform, the all-new ES is longer and wider, but lower compared to its predecessor. It also features a longer wheelbase and wider tracks increasing its visual appeal as well as its handling.



The front is dominated by slim headlamps with the distinctive “L” shaped marker lights. Sandwiching it is the iconic spindle grille—echoing the same treatment found in the LC coupe and LS flagship sedan. At the side, the lowered height allows for sleeker lines that flow from the A- to the C-pillar. At the back, the three-dimensional L-shaped LED taillights add depth. At each corner, the ES is fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels.

Known for its comfort and quietness, the all-new ES is set to raise the bar thanks to its new GA-K platform. It’s exceptionally rigid made of several grades of high-strength steel. Furthermore, it comes with a front strut tower brace and multiple reinforcements for the struts themselves, and radiator support braces for increased stiffness. Sound deadening now covers 93 percent of the floor pan while underbody covers are used to reduce road noise. The ES also uses a front MacPheron Strut suspension and a Multi-link setup at the back.



The 2019 Lexus ES is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 (2GR-FKS) that delivers effortless acceleration with impressive fuel efficiency. Fitted with a high-pressure D-4S direct injection and low-pressure port injection, the VVTi-W (Variable Valve Timing intelligence – Wide) packs 302 horsepower and 362 Nm of torque—figures which are significantly higher than before. Complimenting this engine is an all-new 8-speed Direct Shift automatic. This transmission uses an ultra-thin torque converter and multi-plate lock up clutch to maintain a direct connection in almost all driving situations.

Upping the ES’s performance acumen, the transmission can now be driver-altered using the Drive Mode Select system. However, an AI Shift Control manages to align the transmission’s shift points with the driver’s intentions.



Inside, the 2019 Lexus ES blends a driver-centric cockpit with a spacious and comfortable area for everyone on board. Introduced in the LS sedan, the all-new ES takes on the same “Seat in Control” design concept. This ensures that all controls are within easy reach the moment you step in and that all information is in plain view. Pertinent information is conveyed by an ultra-sharp 7-inch LCD instrument cluster with analog tachometer, while the new Lexus Multimedia System now sits high on the dashboard in a position that minimizes distraction. Apple CarPlay functionally comes standard as well.

Despite the lowered roof height, headroom is actually up compared to the previous model along with a lower hip point. Cargo space is also up from before.

Lexus understands that luxury isn’t just about the sense of sight. With that, the ES sports a carefully crafted interior that pays meticulous attention to detail. The seats are made to contour better to the driver and with 10-way power adjust fits just about any body type. The steering wheel is borrowed directly from the LS sedan and features an ergonomically-shaped rim. Ventilated/heated seats are standard.


The 2019 Lexus ES sedan ushers in a new era for one of the brand’s most popular models. Much like the flagship LS sedan, the ES addresses the need to engage a broader range of customers. It delivers everything the traditional Lexus buyers expect along with elements that will draw in those who haven’t considered the brand before. More dynamic styling and performance, unique cabin materials, and the latest technology add a chapter to the ES story that hasn’t been completely told.
