Honda Just Refreshed the Civic in the US; Asia-Pacific Markets Sure to Follow
In a bid to cement its success as the leading compact sedan, Honda has refreshed the 10th-generation Civic for the 2019 model year. Launching in the US by the end of this year, expect the same aesthetic changes to make its way to the Asia-Pacific market sometime next year.
Building on the Civic’s sporty style, the 2019 model gets a more aggressive look with a restyled front lower bumper that visually widens the car. The chrome “wing” grille is now gone, replaced by a high-gloss black one, similar to the Philippine market RS Turbo variant). At the back, a chrome strip adds a more premium touch while wheels are upsized to 18 inches across the line-up. The LED headlights have also been upgraded for a wider, longer beam.
Inside, the 2019 Civic gets a variety of subtle upgrades. The most welcome of which is the addition of a physical volume knob for the Display Audio system. Other changes include redesigned steering wheel controls and a new center console that holds larger beverages.
Mechanically, the Civic remains unchanged. In the US, it’s offered with a normally-aspirated 2.0-liter motor with 158 horsepower or a turbocharged 1.5-liter with 174 horsepower. It’s safe to assume that the Asia-Pacific version will follow the same route with a choice between a normally-aspirated 1.8-liter SOHC 4-cylinder or a turbocharged 1.5-liter. What’s new is added insulation in the floor, trunk, and front fenders. The rear fenders also get sound insulation for the first time as well.
Nice little changes specially the volume knob of the LCD Display.
