Hyundai Philippines Sales Slip 6 Percent in Q3 2018
Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) says that sales experienced a “minimal” decline of 6 percent ending the third quarter of 2018. A total of 9,483 units were sold compared to the 10,085 units in the third quarter of 2017.
The month of September became the third month in 2018 that the brand breached the 3,000-unit sales mark with 3,217 units sold. This puts the total sale of Hyundai vehicles for January to September at 25,440 units or a conservative decrease of 7.3 percent from the same period of the previous year.
The Passenger Car (PC) segment continues to be the main volume driver of the brand with at least two-thirds of its total vehicle sales, or 25,440 units from January to September 2018; 70 percent of which was due to the Accent.
Meanwhile, Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) take the remaining share with 10,081 units sold but have grown significantly from the same period of 2017 with 18.6 percent. The popularity of the Kona in the Subcompact SUV segment has pushed the growth of the brand’s LCV sales. The segment also houses other popular nameplates such as the Tucson, Grand Starex, and the H-100 which have also ranked high in their own segments.
