Isuzu Philippines Corporation is expanding its commercial vehicle offering with the market preview of the VT02 lightweight truck at the Philippine International Motor Show.

Designed specifically for emerging markets, the VT02 is a cabover lightweight truck with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 3 tons. Known as the “Traga” in its home market of Indonesia, the VT02 is jointly engineered by Isuzu Motors Limited and Isuzu Global CV Engineering Center, a group company controlling the truck engineering for emerging markets.

The VT02 marries a lightweight cabin based on the N Series and a frame based off the D-MAX. Thus, it offers the same attributes such as a maximized loading efficiency, tight turning performance, and high fuel efficiency.

In its current form, the VT02 is powered by an 80-horsepower, 191 Nm of torque 4JA1 engine that’s Euro 2 compliant. Prior to its Philippine launch, Isuzu Philippines Corporation will be introducing a Euro 4 compliant version of the VT02 that will take advantage of the company’s Blue Power clean diesel technology.

Expect the Isuzu VT02 to be introduced in the market in 2019.
