Bayan Auto's New BAIC M60 is a Turbocharged People Mover
Fresh from the introduction of its BJ20 compact crossover and M50S compact MPV, Bayan Auto is now adding the new M60 to their line-up. A mid-sized MPV, the M60 pushes the best features of the M50S into what the distributor calls “the modern-day station wagon.”
Sitting at 4.8 meters in length, 1.8 meters in width, and 1.7 meters in height, the M60 sits at the borderline between mid- and full-sized MPVs. Yet, thanks to its rigid unibody construction, this front-wheel drive MPV tips the scale at a relatively lightweight 1,445 kilograms. Despite its large size and generous 2.76-meter wheelbase, its turning radius is a scant 5.5 meters, further helped by its reverse camera and sensors.
Apart from its perfectly-sized body, the M60 is powered by BAIC’s small yet powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. Making 150 horsepower and 210 Nm of torque from as low as 2,000 rpm, it’s enough to pull this three-row, 7-seater MPV to a top speed of 170 km/h. Mated to this engine is a CVT transmission—the first automatic transmission available in a BAIC MPV model in the Philippines.
The BAIC M60 is now available in two variants: the Standard 1.5 CVT at P 998,000 and the Luxury 1.5 CVT at P 1,068,000.
