NISMO Festival 2018 Shows Future of Nissan Motorsports
If you find yourself in Japan this December, do yourself a favor and attend the NISMO Festival at the Fuji Speedway. Celebrating 60 years of Nissan global motorsports, the NISMO Festival will not only show Nissan’s racecars past and present, but also its future.
On December 2, 2018 from 8:30 AM to 4 PM, the NISMO Festival 2018 will open its doors at the Fuji International Speedway. Nissan’s heritage models and latest NISMO road cars will be on display at the annual fan appreciation event, but also offers the first chance to see Nissan’s new Formula E car on a track in Japan. The one-day event will also showcase an all-new, dynamic Nissan EV show.
For Nissan, its participation in Formula E represents the performance side of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the company’s vision for changing how cars are powered, driven and integrated into society. The 100 percent electric model will be shown just weeks before its debut race in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“We don’t have a Formula E race yet in Japan, so we’re thrilled to show its exciting driving to Japanese fans at the NISMO Festival,” said Takao Katagiri, CEO of NISMO and head of the NISMO road car business at Nissan. “This is a great opportunity for motorsports fans to observe firsthand how Nissan and NISMO’s engineers and drivers learn through racing how to build more passionate cars, featuring Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies that offer our customers excitement and convenience.”
To celebrate Nissan’s six decades of global motorsports participation, starting with the class victory at the Australian Rally in 1958, the festival will feature more than 50 cars that have competed globally and in Japan. Rally cars from the 1950s to the 1980s, prototype cars from the 1990s, current GT cars, and the Formula E car will be on display.
This year’s event offers even closer access to the cars than in years past, and more time for interaction with drivers.
Off the track, the festival will feature autograph sessions and talk shows by legendary and current Nissan/NISMO drivers, children’s events, and of course, corporate and vendor retailing.
