Subaru Confirms: Philippine Models Affected by Global Vehicle Recall
Motor Image Pilipinas, the official distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines has confirmed that several of its models are affected by two global recalls covering the valve springs and multi-information display.
The recall for the valve spring issues, involves vehicles manufactured from January 16, 2012 to May 14, 2013. The affected models are 2013 Model Year (MY) BRZ, 2013-2014MY Legacy/Outback, 2012-2014MY Forester and 2012-2014MY Impreza/XV equipped with the FA20 engine or FB20 engine.
If found defective, it’s possible that under stress, the valve springs in the affected engines may fracture. This could result in an unusual noise coming from the engine, the engine stalling and not being to restart.
Motor Image Pilipinas is taking a precautionary measure and will replace the defective valve spring on models deemed affected. The Philippines joins the other Motor Image markets—Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam as well as Subaru’s other global markets in the said recall. Over 400,000 units globally are affected.
Motor Image says it will notify customers about this recall and all parts are free of charge. It’s understood that the valve spring replacement procedure may take up to 12 hours to fix per vehicle.
At the same time, Subaru has also announced a recall of 2018MY Legacy and Outback models manufactured before August 1, 2018 for potential issues with the multi-information display.
A programming issue may lead to inaccuracies between what is shown on the multi-information display, with regards to the amount of fuel left, and the actual drivable distance left. Subaru is taking a precautionary measure to ensure that information on the fuel gauge and the amount of
drivable distance left is accurate.
Affected units will have the software of its multi-information display updated, free of charge.
Motor Image is committed to the highest safety standards and quality driving experience for all our customers. Motor Image is in constant contact with Subaru Corporation for any further updates and will notify affected customers accordingly.
Disaster happens! :C
