2019 Suzuki Jimny Recognized as Year's Best Design
We all knew that the upcoming 2019 Jimny is one great-looking SUV, but now, the experts have concurred. Suzuki announced that its all-new Jimny just won the 2018 Good Design Gold Award in Japan.
Given by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion, the Good Design Gold Award represents the year’s most outstanding design, chosen from 100 other “Best Design” entries. This is the first time for Suzuki to win the Good Design Gold Award.
The jury said: “In the global automobile market packed with many products, the Jimny has achieved an unchallengeable, distinctive position. It has also undertaken an ideal re-design in its model change process, evolving by pursuing the functions sought in a ‘tool’, which we value highly. Especially in its latest model change, sophisticated design is realized while keeping the good points of its previous models.”
Launched for the first time in 20 years, the all-new Jimny pursues simplistic beauty that’s pretty much function over form. Designed under the concept of “tool for professionals,” it has a squared off body that contributes to excellent visibility and off-road capability. It also embraces this functionality with excellent levels of performance, maneuverability, and even the interior and exterior colors and detailing.
The all-new Jimny, previewed by Suzuki Philippines at the recently concluded Philippine International Motor Show has been confirmed to launch by the second half of 2019. Its price is expected to cap off at P 1,100,000 for the top-of-the-line model.
