Mazda Philippines Gets Word on Number of Units Covered by Faulty Valve Springs
Last November, we broke the news that 640,000 Mazda vehicles (230,000 in Japan and 410,000 overseas) equipped with the Skyactiv-D engine are possibly headed for a recall due to faulty valve springs. Three months later, we found out the extent of this recall to Philippine market units.
In a follow-up with Steven Tan, President of Bermaz Auto Philippines, exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles in the country said that after some back and forth with Mazda Japan, it can finally be said with finality that no vehicle sold in the Philippines is affected by the faulty valve springs recall.
“After discussions with Mazda Corporation regarding the intake valve spring replacement campaign, the SH engine (2.2-liter Skyactiv-D) in vehicles sold in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Australia are not included,” said Mr. Tan.
This news is welcome to all owners of Mazda6 and CX-5 fitted with the Skyactiv-D engine.
