Aston Martin Brings Back Vanquish Nameplate for First Next-Generation Series Production Supercar
Aston Martin is giving the world a glimpse of its next-generation mid-engined supercar and with that, brings back the Vanquish nameplate once more. Shown in concept form at the Geneva Motor Show, it shows how Aston Martin plans to bring its supercar to the forefront of its second-century plan and one that stands proud alongside the likes of the Valkyrie and Lagonda SUV.
Designed and engineered to compete in one of the most hotly contested market sectors in the sportscar world, the Vanquish is Aston Martin’s first series production rear mid-engined supercar.
It continues on with the carmaker’s pursuit of weight, packaging, and aerodynamic efficiency. With that, it won’t use a V8 or V12. Instead, the Vanquish is set to use a version of Aston Martin’s new V6 engine, likely in hybrid and/or turbocharged form. In addition, in a departure from an all carbon fiber construction, the it’ll be constructed from a bonded aluminum chassis.
As the car heads into an intensive development process and then series production, the carmaker will be revealing more details in due time.
