Subaru Calls the VIZIV Adrenaline Concept, Bold and That's Worrying
Okay, you know Subaru designers are running out of ideas when they’ve decided that their bolder design concept is called, BOLDER (yes, in all caps). Sadly, the new VIZIV Adrenaline Concept is anything bold.
If this is supposedly a far-flung design preview of the all-new Subaru XV, then the arrival of the VIZIV Adrenaline is worrying. It’s supposed to “define the characteristic of Subaru vehicles more prominently (their quote, not ours).” If that’s the case, it just further emphasizes the point that Subaru engineers take most of the development time, while designers do what they can at the 11th hour. Oh, but at least that means there’s a better of chance of seeing this concept car as it is compared to Subaru’s past concepts, right?
Setting the VIZIV Adrenaline Concept apart from other past Subaru VIZIV concepts though is that it’s clearly wearing a thong on head; it’s clear from the way the pillars connect to the roof. Guaranteed, once you see it, you cannot unsee it.
Subaru didn’t release any hints as to what the powertrain might be, so at this point, it’s best to leave it to the imagination. Likely though, it’s going to be a Boxer engine with some sort of electrical assist mated to the brand’s trademark Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
Subaru, we’ll forgive you for this if you just give us a new WRX STI already. Oh, and maybe a new BRZ, too.
