Amidst the rising popularity of luxury crossovers and SUVs in the market, BMW is ready to rise to the challenge by introducing the latest generation of its sports sedan: the 2020 3 Series. Despite 40 percent of its global sales due to the X Series, BMW says the 3 Series remains its definitive model—one that epitomizes the concept of sporty driving for over 40 years.

The latest generation 3 Series showcases BMW’s newest design language with precisely drawn lines and contoured surfaces. Upfront, the double kidney grille gets a modern reinterpretation while LED headlights and fog lights draw up an unmistakable lighting signature. Toward the sides, a trailing edge on the window and its Hofmeister kink is now integrated into the C-pillar. At the back, slim horizontal taillight elements give it a wide, muscular stance. Dimensionally, it’s larger in every dimension, contributing not only to improved agility and on-road poise, but interior room and comfort as well.


Inside, the 3 Series retains its driver-centric design albeit made with a feeling of space thanks to the new control groupings, tall center console, and coordinated use of materials. For the Philippine market, the sole M Sport model offers Alcantara/Sensatec upholstery, a three-zone climate control, and standard ambient lighting. The Parking Assistant—which automatically steers, accelerates, and brakes when driving into and out of a space is standard as well as Reversing Assistant which automatically reverses the car in confined spaces or situations where the driver does not have a clear view.

Available solely in the 330i trim, the all-new 3 Series features a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine equipped with BMW’s TwinPower Turbo system. This pushes the output to 258 horsepower at 5,000-6,500 rpm and torque to 400 Nm from 1,550 to 4,400 rpm.


Along with the high-performance gasoline engine, the 2020 3 Series continues with its sporty dynamics with a 50/50 front-to-back weight distribution and low center of gravity. It’s also 55 kilograms lighter than the outgoing model as well. Furthermore, standard on the M Sport package, the 330i M Sport has lift-related dampers which continuously alters damper firmness according to spring travel.

The 2020 BMW 330i M Sport arrives in the Philippines with a suggested retail price of P 4,590,000. The price is inclusive of BMW Philippines’s new 5-year warranty.
