The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette is "Sayad" Proof
One of the biggest banes to driving a supercar around is its low ground clearance, specifically at the front, where it has the propensity to scrape through anything. Well, Chevrolet has come up with an ingenious solution that’ll prevent that from happening in the 2020 Corvette Stingray.
Engineers enabled the Corvette Stingray’s front suspension to raise itself by 40 mm (measured from the front bumper) in 2.8 seconds protecting the precious bumper against bumps, potholes, and steep driveways. It can even be operated at speeds up to 38 km/h.
While this won’t transform the Corvette into an off-roader, it does present some clever thinking on Chevrolet’s part. Now, using hydraulics to raise the front suspension in a supercar isn’t new—it’s been used in Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and even the latest Ford GT. What sets Chevrolet’s system apart is its ability to “memorize” locations that require a lift.
By using the GPS system, Corvette Stingray drivers can save up to 1,000 GPS locations requiring the temporary lift. If set, each time the driver slows down at the obstacle, the car does all the raising as if by magic. Of course, if owners don’t prefer to flood the map with tons of “memorized” locations, the suspension can still be lifted up manually via a button on the center console.
If Chevrolet Philippines does bring in the 2020 Corvette Stingray, we’d imagine that over half of the 1,000 GPS locations will be consumed memorizing the nefarious speed bumps in BGC. Still, it should make the Sunday Cars & Coffee meet a less painful experience for would-be owners.
