If you can’t shake off the tuner feeling, but have to settle on a family crossover, Honda may have a solution for you: meet the CR-V MUGEN.

A limited 300-unit run for Malaysia (for now, at least), the CR-V MUGEN gets wrapped with what the carmaker terms, “youthful” upgrades. It gets a new front under spoiler, front grille garnish, side garnish, rear under spoiler, rear upper wing, and of course, MUGEN emblems. Oh, and adding more flair, it’s only available in two colors: White Orchid Pearl (sorry, no Championship White) and Passion Red Pearl.

Despite its racy appearance, there are no mechanical upgrades to the CR-V MUGEN. In Malaysia, it gets a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 190 horsepower and get this, it’s only available in 2WD guise.

Given Honda Cars Philippines’s propensity to launch limited-run models, there’s high chance that the CR-V MUGEN will make it here as well. Of course, because the local market doesn’t offer the 1.5-liter turbocharged motor, it’s highly likely that the mid-grade diesel, the 1.6 S will get the MUGEN kit.
