If Subaru’s “Ber” month deals on the Subaru XV hasn’t gotten you to sing Christmas jingles yet (thank you, Jose Mari Chan), perhaps maybe it’s because you’re digging its bigger brother, the Forester? Well, don’t worry, because those same “Ber” month deals are happening for Subaru’s best-selling compact crossovers.
The deals are not as generous as the ones on the Subaru XV, but if you don’t score one, you’ll still feel left out in your neighborhood. Applicable at all authorized Subaru dealerships, the following options are offered for the Forester:
- P 50,000 worth of service vouchers for the 2.0i-L, 20i-L EyeSight, and P 2.0i-S EyeSight. Buyers of the 2.0i-L also get an additional P 40,000 cash discount on top of those aforementioned service vouchers.
- If you feel lucky, and you don’t need free service, you can simply pocket the P 50,000 for a total of P 90,000 cash discount (applicable only to the 2.0i-L). For financing customers, the 2.0i-L is also available with a low downpayment of just P 118,000.
Then suddenly Subaru will offer 200k discount. Car buyers here have an aversion of Subarus. It has a reputation of expensive maintenance and parts. It's not a vehicle you can keep for a long time without suffering a financial drain. Subaru seems to recognize this image that's the reason it is offering extended warranty. Still, many want to own cars much longer than 5 yrs. They know cars need more repairs after 5 yrs. So a 5 yr warranty isn't of much help. Subaru should offer 10 yrs warranty. That's not unheard of. In the US some car companies do give that. If that's too scary for Subaru they can offer big discounts for parts and services for the next 5 yrs instead. Only then will more people look at Subaru to consider buying.
