After the introduction of the A-Class and B-Class, Auto Nation Group, the exclusive distributor of Mercedes-Benz completes the trifecta by introducing the new CLA four-door coupe. With just one variant, it costs P 700,000 more than its similarly-engined A-Class sibling.

Continuing with its front-wheel drive architecture, the new CLA poses the characteristics of both a coupe and sedan. Continuing to be a style icon for Mercedes-Benz, the 2020 CLA keeps its predecessor’s frameless doors. Upfront, it comes with LED headlights with DRLs, complementing the low-slung hood and diamond grille. The new narrow-designed tail lamps and number plate housed in the bumper emphasize the width of the new CLA, while 18-inch light alloy wheels shower it with sportiness.


Inside, it continues the same youthful avant-garde form seen in the A-Class and B-Class. A new leather multi-function steering wheel, touchpad, three-seat power driver’s seat, and Artico leather seats are just some of the changes done inside. Furthermore, it also comes with the latest-generation MBUX system which combines the instrument cluster and center display into two 7-inch digital screens. It also has natural speech recognition and seamless Apple CarPlay integration.

Despite its sensual appearance, the new CLA has tangibly more space at many spots in the interior. At the front, for example, headroom has increased by 17 mm and elbow room by 35 mm. Thanks to a wider opening (+262 mm), the boot compartment is now more convenient to load unto than the predecessor model. For more space and storage, the CLA offers comfort seats with seat cushions adjustable for depth and angle, with a 40/20/40 split-folding rear seat backrest.


The CLA 180 Progressive is powered by a turbocharged 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine making a respectable 136 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. The only transmission on offer is a 7-speed dual clutch automatic. Moreover, it comes with Dynamic Select that allows the driver to shift between various driving modes that suit their driving style, the weather, and road conditions. The CLA is also equipped with a comfort suspension package and direct steering assist.

The CLA 180 comes in nine shades: Polar White, Digital White, Night Black, Mountain Gray, Denim Blue, Sun Yellow, Jupiter Red, Mojave Silver, and Cosmos Black with a price of P 3.190 million.
