The Return of the FX4 Headlines Change to the Philippine 2020 Ford Ranger Line-Up (w/ Specs)

Ford Philippines opens 2020 with the introduction of two new variants of its best-selling Ranger pickup truck. This brings the total available variants to 13—one of the widest in its segment. The two new variants launched are the FX4 in manual and automatic transmission guise.

“The new Ranger FX4 is a strong addition to our Ranger lineup as we continue to offer a variety of our ‘Built Ford Tough’ pickup trucks to customers with different needs, budget, and lifestyle, clearly signifying that there is indeed a Ford Ranger for everyone,” said PK Umashankar, managing director, Ford Philippines.

Priced at P 1,256,000 for the FX4 M/T and P 1,316,000 for the FX4 A/T, the Ranger FX4 features unique styling that makes it standout from the rest of the Ranger line. The changes include 18-inch high-gloss black alloy wheels, a new mesh grille, extended steel sports bar on the bed, and ebony black accents on the side mirror caps, door handles, and bumpers. Completing the changes are decals along the lower part of the front door and 3D badging on its tailgate.

Available starting today, the Ranger FX4 comes in five colors: Absolute Black, Aluminum Metallic, Arctic White, Meteor Grey, and True Red.

Like its flashier exterior, the interior also gets a wealth of changes such as leather seats with an embossed FX4 emblem, FX4-branded floor mats, and a sporty dark-themed interior with race red stitching on the soft top instrument panel, center console, gear shifter, and door trims. It also offers a more premium infotainment system—an 8-inch full color touchscreen fitted with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard equipment and more standard equipment such as rain-sensing wipers and power folding mirrors.

Powering the Ranger FX4 is the 2.2-liter Duratorq engine making 160 horsepower and 385 Nm of torque. This is mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels with cruise control.

Safety-wise, it comes with dual SRS airbag, anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Rear Parking Sensors.

While the 2020 Ranger FX4 takes centerstage, the entire Ranger line-up has also been enhanced this year.

The Ranger XLS variants now come with a new 8-inch LCD touchscreen radio with Apple Carplay and Android Auto Capability, while a new Ranger XLS Sport 4x2 A/T variant is added to the Ranger XLS product range. The Ranger XLT variants also come with a new 8-inch LCD touchscreen radio with Apple Carplay and Android Auto Capability.

Meanwhile, Ranger Wildtrak 4x2 variants now have a new wheel design and LED headlamps. The Wildtrak 4x4 also has a new wheel design, LED headlamps, camera-based Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection and high-mount USB feature to support the installation of dashcam models.

Finally, Ranger Raptor now comes with a camera-based Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, high-mount USB, and LED headlamps.
