After the re-introduction of the Trend variant, Ford Philippines is set to add yet another variant to the Everest family this 2020: the Everest Sport. Arriving in two weeks’ time, the Everest Sport is expected to become the top-grade 4x2 trim in Ford’s mid-sized SUV line-up.

Expected to pick up where the Titanium 4x2 leaves off, the Everest Sport will get a more menacing-looking exterior package, if the Thailand market version is any indication. It will replace all the chrome with high-gloss black ones. Additionally, the trademark three-bar grille will be replaced by a mesh-type one, and the hood with get embossed lettering that spells out, “Everest.” Capping off the changes are 20-inch high-gloss black alloy rims fitted with 265/50 tires and the usual door and trunk badging.

Inside, the Everest Sport is expected to receive a similarly sporty theme. The leather seats and dash topper will feature “Raceway Blue” contrasting stitching, while the seats will have the words, “Sport” embossed on it. And like the Titanium 4x2, the Everest Sport is expected to feature the SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, and a power-folding third row among a long list of standard features.

Given its positioning as a top-trim 4x2 variant, the Everest Sport will likely share the Titanium 4x2’s 2.0-liter single-turbo diesel engine. This will give it 180 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. The sole transmission will be a 10-speed automatic with cruise control.

Along with the introduction of the Everest Sport, Ford Philippines is also expected to refresh the Everest Titanium line-up to give it technologies first seen in the 2020 Ranger. These include new LED headlights that offer 17 percent better lighting penetration (20 percent on the high beam), as well as a windshield-mounted USB port for dash cams. If Ford opts to copy the Ranger’s playbook, expect these changes not to cost a single cent.

And on the subject of the price, Ford hasn’t revealed any details yet. However, it can be inferred based how the Everest line-up is currently positioned. Currently, the Everest Titanium 4x4 tops out at P 2,299,000 while the Everest Titanium 4x2 is at P 1,995,000. This leaves a P 304,000 gap which Ford Philippines can easily plug the Everest Sport into. Our hunch is that Ford will price it at around P 2,080,000. Did we get it right? Let’s see in two weeks.
