SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp., the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines announces the arrival of the first-ever 2 Series Gran Coupe. Available in one variant—the 218i Gran Coupe Sport, this new addition to the BMW family fuels enthusiasm for the discerning local market, particularly those who seek a sporty, yet practical sedan body.
The 2 Series Gran Coupe blends BMW’s classic aesthetic with a more dynamic body style, evidenced by the four frameless doors. The front features the prominent and easily recognizable double kidney grille and full LED headlights. At the back, the rear design accentuates the width, the rear combination lamps and high-gloss black band made to connect with the BMW badge located at the center. As the Sport, high-gloss black elements envelop the car, while at each corner are 17-inch light-alloy wheels.
Inside, the 2 Series Gran Coupe ensures comfort and durability with the front seats featuring electronic adjustment (with memory function for the driver). The interior trim strips are finished in an “Illuminated Berlin” design, with a Sport steering wheel in front of the driver. Access to the infotainment system is via the familiar BMW iDrive wheel or via an 8.8-inch center information display—all part of the BMW Live Cockpit interface.
Underpinned by BMW’s advanced front-wheel drive architecture, the 2 Series Gran Coupe aims to establish a new bar in its class when it comes to handling. Even so, technologies such as BMW’s Innovative Parking Assistant allows automated assisted parking whether in parallel or perpendicular spaces. The same system can help drivers maneuver out as well. Front and rear parking sensors are standard, as is a rear-view camera.
At launch, the first-ever BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will come with single engine choice – a 1.5- liter BMW TwinPower Turbo 3-cylinder in gasoline paired with a seven-speed dual clutch Steptronic automatic transmission. This offers 140 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque.
The BMW 218i Gran Coupé Sport is priced at P 2,990,000 and is available in the following colors: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Melbourne Red, and Mineral Grey. As with all new BMWs, the first-ever BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé comes with a 5-year or 200,000-kilometer manufacturer’s warranty, a new standard in the premium automotive segment in the Philippines.
Desirable but overpriced due to taxes. This is just the 218i variant. The M235i is around php 2.3m in the USA.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. At first, I thought it's because of excise tax. But it seems the dealer and distributors have a huge profit margin on these vehicles.
