Toyota Motor Philippines will be having its first digital launch on June 15, but that didn’t stop one overeager sales agent from spilling the beans a week too soon. Lo and behold: this is the 2020 Toyota Wigo.
Shown in the G trim, the refreshed Wigo sports a meaner-looking face thanks to the new bumper and blacked-out headlights. Towards the side, there is a new alloy wheel design and side mirror-mounted signal lights. At the back are new taillights with the same blacked out design and rear back-up sensors (though these are probably a dealer installed accessory). Sadly, the pull-type pillar-mounted antenna is still around for this update.
The agent also posted the refreshed Wigo’s interior where the new center console is visible. For that, it gets a new digital-type A/C system (not automatic climate control) with a high-gloss piano black accent. The G variant will also get smart keyless entry with push start/stop, a new instrument cluster, and a touchscreen-based infotainment system first seen in the Vios.
According to the post, Toyota won’t be offering the larger 1.2-liter engine variant like it does in Indonesia. Instead, it retains the use of its 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine good for 67 horsepower and 89 Nm of torque. Transmission options remain a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic.
Now, as for the pricing and variants. The agent says the 2020 Wigo will be available in three variants and four trims:
- Wigo 1.0 E M/T – P 568,000
- Wigo 1.0 G M/T – P 623,000
- Wigo 1.0 G A/T – P 658,000
- Wigo 1.0 TRD A/T – P 700,000
