Jaguar PH is Launching the All-Electric I-PACE in July

After being beaten to the punch by Hyundai, it looks like Nissan will have to be content with second runner-up when it comes to EV introductions as another carmaker has thrown their hat into the zero emissions ring: Jaguar.

Confirmed via a Facebook teaser, Jaguar Philippines is set to introduce the all-electric mid-sized I-Pace SUV this July. It beats the previously announced Taycan as the first-ever premium electric vehicle.

The I-Pace takes a clean sheet approach and rides on a unique architecture to take advantage of battery electric technology. With that, it is able to optimize performance, aerodynamics, and interior space from the get-go.

It’s powered by two Jaguar-designed electric motors placed at each axle. Combined, it makes 400 horsepower and 696 Nm of torque. The high-density motors enable the I-Pace to launch from a standing start to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds. With the battery placed centrally between the two axles, it also boasts of a 50/50 weight distribution.

In terms of battery, the I-Pace packs a 90-kWh lithium-ion battery delivering a range of 470 kilometers. Using a home-mounted DC rapid charger, an 80 percent charge can be done in as little as 40 minutes.

As Jaguar’s first EV, the I-Pace has been well-received globally. It’s the most decorated production car (of any powertrain type) in modern history receiving 62 international awards in its first year. This includes the European Car of the Year, World Car of the Year, World Car Design of the Year, and World Green Car the Year.
