Mazda Previews All-New 2021 BT-50

The world doesn’t have to wait long for Mazda to unveil its next-generation BT-50 pickup truck. Teased with this shadowy picture, it’ll be shown in full next week.

The 2021 BT-50 cuts the last remaining thread of Ford collaboration since this pickup truck is now done in partnership with Isuzu.

And while not much is known about Mazda’s version of the pickup truck, what’s sure is that it rides on a brand-new platform shared with the all-new D-Max. It’s not Skyactiv per se, but given Mazda’s input, the platform enables the chassis, engine, and suspension to all work cohesively achieving a balanced driving performance (sounds familiar?)

It’s also unlikely that the 2021 BT-50 will use the low-compression Skyactiv-D engine given the BT-50’s unique platform configuration (one can hope though), so the best bet is that it will share the 2021 D-Max’s 190 horsepower, 450 Nm of torque turbo diesel engine paired to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.

Are you excited for the 2021 BT-50?
