Despite Pandemic, MG Philippines Sales are Up in 2020

MG Philippines continues to cement its position as a rapidly growing car brand in the Philippines following the company’s positive performance in the first half of 2020. Furthermore, MG Philippines is expanding its dealership network and launching innovative aftersales services.

From January to June 2020, MG Philippines experienced growth in its sales performance versus the same period in 2019, with a total of 1,801 vehicles sold (as compared to 1,784 units sold in the same period during 2019.) Of the total vehicles sold, the lion’s share belongs to the MG ZS crossover which comprises 56 percent of MG Philippines’ total unit sales.

But with growing market requirements expected in the second half of 2020, MG Philippines’ other offerings—including the MG 5 sedan, RX5 SUV, and MG 6 fasback—are sure to address various customer needs.

As the number of MG clients increase, and with more MGs plying local streets, MG Philippines is grateful to be able to deliver on the mobility requirements of the market. MG Philippines is focused on doing its part to rekindle economic activity by easing the transportation requirements of the public.

“We appreciate the strong reception and trust that the Philippine automotive market has shown to the MG brand. Our principals at SAIC Motor International (SMIL) and we at The Covenant Car Company, Inc. focused our efforts on a precise product portfolio and positioned our offers to be most beneficial to the local motoring market. We are glad the objectives were achieved, and are delighted to see more clients and their MG vehicles on the road,” says Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla, President and CEO of MG Philippines.

Entering the second half of 2020, MG Philippines is focused on strengthening its position in the local automotive market. Its strategy includes increasing the number of dealerships in its roster, with plans to open an additional six new dealerships in various locations nationwide before the end of 2020.

These additions will supplement the six dealerships already added in H1 2020, namely: MG Congressional, MG Sucat, MG Bacoor, MG Calasiao, MG Marilao, and MG Bohol. By the end of 2020, a total of thirty MG dealerships will be operational nationwide to serve the greater automotive market.

“It has been a very exciting 20 months of growth for the MG brand in the Philippines and we look forward to more opportunities to serve our clients. Acknowledging the evolving lifestyles of our motoring public as a result of the changes in our mobility dynamics and needs, we at MG will be firm in ensuring the quality of the ownership experience of our clients with focus on the safety and security of our MG community of dealer partners, stewards and guests,” says Atty. Arcilla.
