Hyundai Turns to the Dark Side with the Kona Night Edition
After releasing a comical Iron Man Edition, Hyundai is turning to the dark side with their latest limited edition Kona SUV. Named the Kona Night Edition, it gets some sinister-looking visual tweaks to go along with its turbocharged powertrain.
The U.S.-only limited edition Kona gets gloss black exterior highlights complemented by the LED head- and taillights. At each corner are 18-inch Rays semi-gloss black alloy wheels with 235/45R18 tires. Inside, the brushed aluminum trim has been swapped for high-gloss black ones, while for the driver, aluminum sports pedals become standard.
Powering the Kona Night Edition exclusively is a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine making 177 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. The sole transmission is a 7-speed dual clutch automatic. According to Hyundai, it should be enough for a 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 205 km/h.
The Philippines won’t be getting the Kona Night Edition for sure, but at least it should serve as an inspiration for those who want to give their Hyundai SUV the aftermarket treatment.
