Is Chery Auto PH Going to Launch the Country's Most Affordable EV?

Update: It has been officially launched. Click here for details. (8/7).

Is Chery Auto Philippines launching their very own electric vehicle? That seems to be the case based on their teaser for an upcoming Facebook Live event on August 7.

As typical with teasers, the car itself has been shadowed in darkness. However, the headlights and grille can still be made out. Based on Chery’s current line-up, the design details line up with the Arrizo e. In fact, a quick work in Photoshop shows off the teaser’s telltale blue badge and unique front grille.

These two cues indicate that Chery’s entering the executive sedan market using a purely electric drivetrain. In China, the Arrizo e is offered with a choice between a 95 kW (129 horsepower) or 120 kW (160 horsepower) motor, both making 250 Nm of torque. According to the carmaker, 0-50 km/h ranges from 3.8 to 4.8 seconds, while top speed is pegged at 152 km/h. Its maximum cruising range is between 401 to 500 kilometers.

Key features of the Arrizo e include a 9-inch high-def capacitive touchscreen for its infotainment system, AQS automatic climate control with N95-level filtration, single-pedal driving mode (ePedal), and even all sorts of driver assist systems.

In China, the Chery Arrizo e tops out at 129,800 yuan or about a million pesos. Even if it’s priced slightly more—say up to P 1.5 million, Chery Philippines will become the country’s most affordable EV.

  1. Whatever China carmakers offer above 1.2M of it's product it won't be saleable, the Risk is too Hi for the buyers. No available parts and huge loss of resale value compare to Japanese and Korean Cars almost bullet proof reliability.
