It's Confirmed: Jeep PH is Launching the Gladiator this July
Jeep Philippines is confirming that its much-awaited pickup truck, the Gladiator is finally landing this July 11 after a teaser was posted on Facebook.
Based off the Wrangler JL, the Gladiator is 787 millimeters longer with a wheelbase stretched by 492 millimeters. Jeep says the longer wheelbase and the bed’s positioning center aft of the rear axle centerline enables for better weight distribution and a more comfortable and composed ride when carrying cargo. The prop shaft, brake, fuel lines, and exhaust system were lengthened to accommodate the changes.
The country’s official distributor has confirmed to us that two variants will be made available by the launch: Sport and Rubicon. These will be priced at P 3.7M to P 4.8M according to official sources. However, an agent post infamously making the rounds on social media has the prices pegged at P 3.890M for the Sport and P 4.790M for the Rubicon. And yes, these prices don’t include tint.
Now, if these prices are proven to be correct, the Gladiator neatly slots between the Wrangler Sport and Wrangler Rubicon’s P 3.590M starting price to P 4.490M price tag.
Both models will likely boast of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 making 285 horsepower and 352 Nm of torque, while the sole transmission is likely the 8-speed automatic. Naturally, four-wheel drive with low range is standard.
The difference in specs is likely down to added exterior and interior features and the Rubicon’s improved off-road features. These include locking front and rear differentials, an electronic front sway bar disconnect, an Off-Road+ button, forward facing Trailcam, and 33-inch tires with high-clearance fender flares.
