First it was Thailand, now it’s Europe. The Corolla GR Sport Sedan is now going global. As the first Eastern European GR Sport (which is coincidentally, the spec typically chosen by Toyota Motor Philippines for the local market), the Corolla GR Sport adds unique trim, alloy wheels, and seats for a sportier feel.

With a look inspired by Toyota’s performance-focused GR models and referencing the livery colors of TOYOTA Gazoo Racing, the GR Sport removes the chrome element for high-gloss piano black including on the front grille, door mirror casing, center pillars, and side sills. There’s also a black garnish that forms a distinctive C-shaped frame on the corners of the front bumper.



Alloy wheels are black with a contrasting bright machined finish to the ends of each spoke and the GR trademark red ring around the center cap. Two different 10-spoke designs are available with 17-inch fitted as standard and 18-inch as an option.

There’s also a subtle rear spoiler, black rear garnish above the license plate, and of course, GR Sport badging.

The introduction of the Corolla GR Sport also adds a new color: Dynamic Gray. This can be combined with a black roof finish for the first bi-tone paint option for the Corolla sedan.



Inside, the Corolla GR Sport gets a black headliner, a steering wheel wrapped in perforated leather, and brushed aluminum scuff plates. The seats have also been changed for a sportier one with generous side and cushion bolsters and integrated headrests. They’re upholstered in a combination of black cloth and high-quality synthetic leather, with a contrasting vertical stitch pattern in white and red, matching the TOYOTA Gazoo Racing colors. The same color theme is applied to the rear bench seat.

Mechanically, the Corolla GR Sport remains unchanged, and that means a choice between a 1.8-liter hybrid or a 1.6-liter gasoline.

While Toyota Motor Philippines remains quiet on the prospects of bringing in the Corolla GR Sport, the P 395,000 price gap between the top-line 1.6 V and the Hybrid means the carmaker can theoretically slot this in between. In Thailand, the GR Sport adds a P 160,000 premium over the 1.6-liter model. If Toyota Motor Philippines decides to bring this variant in, it’s likely to be priced at around P 1.3-million.
