The Upcoming Hyundai Elantra N Line Will Hunt Down Civics
After showing it off in camouflaged form, Hyundai is now offering the first full glimpse of its Elantra N Line compact sports sedan. Also called the i30 in other global markets, the Elantra N-Line will add yet another performance-oriented offering from the Korean automaker.
Hyundai’s all-new Elantra N Line is distinguished by low and wide styling, amped up by an edgier version of the signature cascading grille, N Line badging, and motorsport-inspired air intake. It also gets unique side skirts and standard 18-inch alloy wheels with larger brakes. The side mirrors, N Line window accents and side skirts are all finished in the N brand signature gloss black. While at the back, the sculpted rear brings the low and wide styling to its natural conclusion with single twin exhausts and rear diffuser.
Hyundai has yet to reveal the Elantra N Line’s interior but they did mention that it will incorporate red accents.
It must be reiterated that the “N Line” sits directly below the “N” brand. Whereas the N brand develops high-performance versions of existing Hyundai cars, the N Line simply adds sporty design elements and further refinements to its chassis and powertrain. With that, it gets specific upgrades to its design, chassis, and engine—but all short of the full N treatment.
If that doesn’t sound too appealing, don’t worry. Hyundai says that the Elantra N Line will be “attractively priced,” indicating that it won’t be carrying a premium price tag as it competes in the crowded, but increasingly shrinking compact sedan market.
