Unlike the 10 Best Interiors list which focuses on aesthetics, comfort, ergonomics, materials usage, fit and finish, and user-friendliness, the 10 Best UX identifies which man-machine interface works best. They look for things such as easy-to-program navigation systems, dependable collision-avoidance technologies, and simple smartphone integration. The two competitions do overlap slightly in judging criteria, but even so, only one landed on both winners’ list (see the 2020 10 Best Interiors list).
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, judging was done remotely and carmakers picked one of their newest vehicle with the most advanced features to be evaluated.
WardsAuto editors evaluated and scored 18 vehicles available in the U.S. with all-new or re-engineered UX features such as touchscreens, voice controls, connectivity, driver-assistance technologies, and overall user friendliness.
