Mazda PH Brings in Mazda3 and MX-5 100th Anniversary Special Edition (w/ Video)

The Philippines joins in the global celebration of Mazda’s 100th anniversary with the announcement that their authorized dealers are now taking in orders for the 100th Anniversary Special Edition series. As a pleasant surprise, Mazda Philippines is bringing not one, but two models that will receive the commemorative treatment.

“For 100 years now, Mazda has remained true to its promise of making cars that defy convention,” shares Mazda Philippines president and CEO, Steven Tan. “As we celebrate a century of manufacturing, design, and engineering expertise, we also would like to thank our customers by letting them commemorate this milestone with us.” Tan adds, “By making these 100th Anniversary Special Edition models available in the Philippines, Mazda acknowledges the passion of our loyal customers. We wish to thank them for allowing us to create unique products that continue to brighten their lives.”

With customer deliveries to start in September, Mazda Philippines is bringing in 100th Anniversary Special Edition series models of the Mazda3 Sportback and MX-5 (in both soft top and RF versions). The two models were specifically chosen for their relevance to the Mazda brand and its fans in the country. The Mazda3 has always been the carmaker’s most recognizable face (over 20,000 have been sold so far in the country), while the MX-5 is a cult favorite.

Both models feature the special anniversary logo which sees the Mazda brand atop the round “Industry” logo used by its predecessor, Toyo Kogyo. The carmaker says it reflects the company’s desire—inherited from its founder—to contribute to the world through engineering and its determination to strive proudly toward the next 100 years.

Both the Mazda3 and MX-5 100th Anniversary Special Edition series adopts a white-and-burgundy two-tone interior color scheme, symbolic of Mazda’s first passenger car, the R360, created in 1960. Further setting them apart as collectibles are headrests embossed with the 100th Anniversary Special Logo, burgundy-colored floor carpeting, and floor mats with the 100th Anniversary Special Badge.

The same badge on the floor mats reading, “100 Years 1920 – 2020” are found on the front fender, while the center caps feature the 100th Anniversary Special Logo in red and black. All three are only available in one color: Snowflake White Pearl. However, the MX-5 soft top also features a red canvas top. For the MX-5 RF, the color of the folding metal roof is dependent on the transmission. The MX-5 RF MT has it in black, while the MX-5 RF AT has it in body color. Completing the package is a special key fob embossed with the 100th Anniversary Special Logo, and presented in a special keep case.

Only 700 units of various 100th Anniversary Special Edition Mazda models will be produced and sold around the world. For the Philippines, only 15 Mazda3 and 24 Mazda MX-5 commemorative models will be made available. This means that the privileged few who will revel in the honor of celebrating a century of engineering innovation, design heritage, and driving passion with Mazda will surely be rewarded with a stunning collector’s masterpiece that is a hundred years in the making.

For those who’re keen to get their hands on a collectible, they’d be happy to know that the pricing of these special edition models has been kept relatively close to their standard counterparts:
  • Mazda3 2.0 Sportback 100th Anniversary Special Edition – P 1,570,000 (+ P 75,000 for the Mazda Speed body kit)
  • Mazda MX-5 2.0 A/T Soft Top 100th Anniversary Special Edition – P 2,335,000
