The 2021 Mazda CX-5 Gets Its Largest Infotainment Screen Ever
Mazda is continually upgrading its CX-5, and for 2021 brings with it the largest infotainment screen ever fitted into their compact SUV.
First seen in the Mazda3 and CX-30, the CX-5 now receives the latest Mazda Connect infotainment interface displayed onto a high-definition 10.25-inch center display. This system is designed for intuitive use with the rotary knob controller, enabling drivers and passengers to access commonly used vehicle settings/commands with just a click.
The revised infotainment system aside, the CX-5 also gets the new-generation key with its flatter, fatter design. Apart from those changes 2021 models will feature slight feature bumps.
For the North American market where this revised compact SUV will make its debut next month, power is delivered by either a normally-aspirated or turbocharged 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine, driving either the front or all wheels. Curiously, after dabbling with the Skyactiv-D diesel engine, the carmaker has all but confirmed that this engine will be meeting its maker next year, at least for the U.S. market.
With the Philippines sourcing the CX-5 from neighboring Malaysia, it’ll probably take a while longer for these changes/upgrades to appear for local models. Regardless, it’s a strong indicator that the current-generation CX-5 will soldier on much, much longer as it switches to a rumored brand-new platform sometime in 2022.
