Porsche has proven that even its Panamera four-door is no slouch. Even before the car’s world premiere, a slightly camouflaged series production car has already lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in just 7:29.81 minutes making it the fastest executive car ever to lap the legendary circuit.
The upcoming Panamera boasts of increased engine power as well as improvements made in the areas of cornering stability, body control, and steering precision. In particular, the new setup of the PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) and grippier Michelin tires proved very effective at the very bumpy track.
The record breaking Panamera is pretty much bog-standard with the exception of a racing seat and safety cage serving as protection for the driver.

The lap record underscores the comprehensive enhancements done to the second Panamera generation. In 2016, Porsche did a 7:38.46-minute lap using the Panamera Turbo. This time was achieved covering the then commonly measured distance for lap record attempts of 20.6 kilometers which did not including the 200-meter long track section by grandstand 13 (T13). In accordance with the new statutes of Nürburgring GmbH, the lap time is now measured over the complete Nordschleife distance of 20.832 km. For comparison, the new Panamera passed the 20.6-kilometer mark after 7:25.04 minutes—roughly equal to a 2014 911 GT3 (991.1 generation). The record-breaking Panamera is around 13 seconds faster than the Panamera Turbo from four years ago.
