Just how far can you go with the Ford Ranger? With an 80-liter tank size, Ford officially says it’s possible to go more than 800 kilometers per tank of diesel. But leave it to two guys when went further with just one mission: to find out how much mileage they can squeeze out of a single tank.

Using a Ford Ranger XLS, Middle Eastern content creators Ahmed Jaffar and Mohamed Sirelkhatim filled up their tank to the brim and set their sights on driving as far as they could.

With a 2.2-liter TDCi engine making 160 horsepower and 385 Nm of torque, the duo originally targeted a 1,000-kilometer target. But as their first day went on, they quickly found out that they were in for far more time behind the wheel than they anticipated.

In fact, they covered 864 kilometers in a day and still had a quarter tank of diesel left.

Little did they know that the remaining fuel would actually push them to add another 388 kilometers to their challenge, for a total distance of 1,252 kilometers or about 36 percent more than Ford’s official fuel efficiency numbers for the Ranger.

That translates to about 15.65 km/L for a variant equipped with the 6-speed automatic and four-wheel drive. While road conditions in the Middle East surely differ from that of the Philippines, do you think you can do better than this pair?
