Geely Unveils Its Newest Flagship Sedan: the 2021 Xing Rui

Geely is readying its first sedan running off the Compact Modular Architecture or CMA. Known previously as the Preface Concept, the Xing Rui (星瑞) or Future Star will go on sale in China in the coming months. This marks the second Geely vehicle to be underpinned by the CMA platform, the first being the Xing Yue sports coupe SUV.

The CMA platform was developed by Geely’s China-Euro Vehicle Technology Centre (CEVT) in Gothenburg, Sweden. The Volvo XC40 was the first vehicle to use CMA followed by the Lynk & Co models as well as the Polestar 2.

The Xing Rui will carry Geely’s design forward with elements such as the Cosmos Grille carried over along with its wide body stance and large wheels. It measures 4,785 mm in length, 1,869 mm in width, and 1,469 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. It’s one of the biggest, most spacious offerings in the segment, according to the carmaker with emphasis given to rear passenger space.

The Xing Rui will include a wide array of powertrain options including a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine jointly-developed by Geely and Volvo Cars. It will also utilize a 7-speed dual clutch automatic—the same one used throughout the Geely passenger car range.

Inside, the Xing Rui promises to have the most opulent Geely interior to date. It will feature a 12.3-inch center display powered by GKUI technology which will offer Over the Air or OTA updates, a jet-fighter inspired shifter, and even a Bose sound system.
