After the demise of the Commander in 2010, the lack of a three-row SUV was a glaring hole in the Jeep product portfolio. Well, that hole has now been plugged with the re-introduction of a familiar nameplate: the 2021 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

The nameplate itself started in 1962 as Jeep’s premium offering; it’s this tradition that the 2021 model carries. Though officially classified by Jeep as a concept, the production version is slated to arrive in North American showrooms by next year.



The trademark 7-slot grille on the Grand Wagoneer is illuminated, complemented by the projector LED headlights. At each corner are 24-inch wheels, while at the back, it gets full-length LED taillights contributing to its solid form. Paying tribute to its country of origin, American flags are found on the lower third of each front door (along with the Grand Wagoneer name), while on top, the panoramic sunroof features a map of Detroit, Michigan.

Inside, the Grand Wagoneer goes for a technology-rich experience. Nearly 45 inches of total screen span the length of the instrument panel: a 12.3-inch driver information display behind the steering wheel, a 12.1-inch horizontal touchscreen serves as the main display screen in the center console, with a 10.25-inch horizontal comfort display touchscreen below it. Additionally, a 10.25-inch passenger screen provides the front passenger with touchscreen controls as well. Those in the second row have a 10.1-inch display screen located between the two captain’s chairs and individual 10.1-inch infotainment screens as well.



The Grand Wagoneer will use the Android-based Uconnect 5 and will have an audio system powered by McIntosh , a classic American luxury brand known for their home audio systems.

The Grand Wagoneer also goes for a sustainable kind of luxury using glass, aluminum, and heat-treated lacewood to adorn the cabin. The suede headliner is made of Dinamica; the carpets from Thrive fiber; and the seats and panels from PUR.



Jeep hasn’t revealed what sort of engines its Grand Wagoneer will have, but they did mention that it will be available as a plug-in hybrid. In addition, it will boast of class-leading capability courtesy of three available 4x4 systems and the renowned Quadra-Lift air suspension. It also features all around independent suspension.
