The all-electric version of the F-150 will deliver the most horsepower and torque compared to other variants according to Ford themselves.
As the American carmaker starts “Job 1” on the all-new 2021 F-150, Ford’s chief operating officer and incoming CEO Jim Farley revealed that the all-electric version of the truck, due in 2022, will be built at the new Rouge Electric Vehicle Center.
The new manufacturing center will handle the assembly of the battery system for the F-150 hybrid (called PowerBoost) and the production of the fully-electric F-150.
Among the tidbits shared by Ford about the upcoming all-electric F-150 include:
- A new technology that will allow mobile power generation so customers can use their trucks as a power source for places from campsites to jobsites when needed
- Dual electric motors targeted to deliver more horsepower and torque than any F-150, the fastest acceleration, and the ability to tow heavy trailers
- Significantly less maintenance than its gasoline counterpart, creating more than 40 percent savings for its lifetime total cost of operation
- Giant front trunk to add more cargo-carrying versatility and security to help protect and move valuable items
- Over-the-air updates
