You Can Actually Save Some Money by Converting Your 2015-2020 Hilux to Look Like the 2021 Model

Attention current Toyota Hilux owners. If you’re feeling a bit blue that a slicker, manlier-man update of your prized pickup truck is on the way, don’t fret. You can opt to go the aftermarket route and turn your 2015-2020 Hilux into a 2021 one.

Thanks to the guys at Atoy Customs, we now know what’s new exactly with the 2021 Hilux (aesthetically), but more importantly, we also know how much the entire front-end conversion costs. According to Ton Llave, using genuine Toyota parts, here’s what you’ll need to swap faces:
  • Front bumper
  • Projector headlights
  • Fog light frame
  • Toyota LED fog lights
  • Fog light housing
  • Grille
  • Grille retainer
  • Hood trim
The entire package sets you back P 80,000 sans painting. The paint job costs an additional P 5,000 for the bumper, P 3,500 for the grille and hood trim. If you want the new taillights as well, it’s P 21,500 with the package (P 24,000 separately).

It sounds like a pretty penny, but if you bought a Hilux during Toyota Motor Philippines’s Arrive At Your Destination promo last July, the P 110,000 conversion pretty much evens out (Toyota was offering the Hilux with up to P 100,000 in discounts then). Plus, with the 2.8 G 4x4 actually bowing out of the Hilux line-up for 2021, you end up saving some money instead of opting for the 2021 Hilux Conquest 4x4 which becomes the sole 4x4 variant (P 1,652,000 vs a reported P 1,830,000).

Of course, it’s worth noting that the aesthetic conversion doesn’t get you the other expected goodies of the 2021 Hilux including the more powerful 2.8-liter engine, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto-equipped head unit, and revised suspension. But again, those are easily fixed by going the aftermarket route.
