At the occasion of The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI)’s 11th anniversary of it being the exclusive distributorship of the Chevrolet brand, they have confirmed that they are bringing in five all-new models, including the first-ever mid-engined Corvette.
Revealed no less than TCCCI President Atty. Albert Arcilla, the Tahoe mid-sized SUV, Suburban full-sized SUV, and the Corvette C8 sportscar are coming to the Philippines next year.
The 2021 Corvette Stingray features a bold, futuristic expression with that combines classic mid-engine exotic proportions with unmistakable Corvette cues. At its heart is Chevrolet’s next-generation 6.2-liter small block LT2 engine. Now the only naturally aspirated V8 in the segment, it produces 495 horsepower and 637 Nm of torque (when equipped with the performance exhaust) making it the most powerful entry-level Corvette ever. 0-100 km/h is achieved in around 3 seconds, matching much more expensive supercars.
Meanwhile, also confirmed to arrive are Chevrolet’s big boys: the 2021 Tahoe and Suburban. Both models boast of substantially increased interior room thanks to its shift to an independent rear suspension.
Chevrolet hasn’t mentioned what powertrain they’ll be bringing in, but in the U.S., the Tahoe and Suburban are offered with a 5.3-liter V8 making 355 horsepower and 519 Nm, a 6.2-liter V8 making 420 horsepower and 623 Nm both having GM’s Dynamic Fuel Management system (cylinder deactivation) for improved fuel economy; and a segment-exclusive 3.0-liter Duramax inline-6 diesel with 277 horsepower and 623 Nm of torque. All engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic driving either the rear or all wheels.
TCCCI has not mentioned what the two remaining models are, but Arcilla did give a hint: it is a global vehicle produced at a plant for left-hand drive markets. This could mean: North America, Korea, or China.
Things are looking exciting for Chevrolet in the Philippines for 2021.
These 3 models are all gas guzzlers. GOOD LUCK, TCCCI!
