The 2021 Honda Ridgeline is One Smart Pickup Truck

Honda’s SUV with a pickup bed, the Ridgeline just got its boldest makeover yet. Set to launch in the U.S.A. early next year, it reflects its rugged and versatile qualities.

The 2021 Ridgeline features all-new sheet metal from the front roof pillars forward. Design changes include a new hood sporting a pronounced power bulge, and new front fenders that emphasize the squared-off nose and more upright grille, flanked by LED headlights updated for better illumination. Below, a new front bumper adds a sense of toughness while also helping it route air around the front tires and wheels for improved aerodynamic performance. At the back, a reshaped bumper exposes aggressive new twin exhaust outlets. Capping the changes, the 2021 Ridgeline has an increased rear track for a broader, more planted stance with standard 18-inch wheels.

New for 2021, the Ridgeline adds a dose of sporty style thanks to Honda Performance Development. The HPD Package adds a unique grille treatment, black fender flares, special graphics, and more aggressive bronze-colored wheels.

Inside, Honda’s pickup truck receives an updated Display Audio system as well as new steering wheel, center console accents, and dashboard trim. The flat floor and foldaway 60/40-split rear seat bottoms offer class-leading interior space for passengers.

Continuing for 2021, it has standard V6 power. The 3.5-liter unit comes with 280 horsepower and 355 Nm of torque mated to a 9-speed automatic. On all-wheel drive versions, the Ridgeline’s i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system can send up to 70 percent of torque to the rear wheels, and continuously apportions 100 percent of that torque between the left and right rear wheels based on driving conditions. There are also selectable modes for mud and sand.

The Ridgeline’s unibody construction features fully-boxed frame members for the body sides and rear tailgate frame, plus fully independent rear suspension. This unique construction pays dividends with uncompromised ride comfort and handling on paved roads, while supporting a payload capacity of 716 kilograms and up to 2,267 kilograms of towing capacity.

Ridgeline’s extra-wide stance enables an extra-wide standard bed, making it the only truck in its class that can flat-carry 4-foot wide items, such as plywood and drywall, between the wheel wells. Constructed of glass fiber-reinforced SMC composites, it resists dents and scratches without the need for a separate bed liner. It also comes standard with a washable, lockable in-bed trunk under the bed floor.

Though the Ridgeline has always been a North American model, do you think Honda Cars Philippines should bring it in?
